Snow Day! We had such a nice day yesterday. The girls slept in so I got some much needed rest (Jordan hasn't been sleeping as well as usual since she's been teething). We played many of their new board games from Christmas and the girls even ventured outside for about 15 minutes to play in the snow. It was really cold, so they were soon back in for hot chocolate, popcorn, and a movie.
It was a little like a Monday morning trying to get all of the kids out of bed again today, but well worth it.

Hoping for a snow day!

Today we have been getting snow again all day long. And apparently, the storm hasn't even hit us yet--this is just lake effect. It is supposed to snow through tomorrow evening, so the kids (and I) are already thinking about the possibility of getting to sleep in tomorrow.

As a teacher, I don't want to miss school plus I get behind in what I need to get through every time we miss school. Still, it is never bad to get a phone call at 6 am to let you know you don't have to get up and get ready for another day at school; rather you can go back to bed and take it easy for the day. So, whether we do have school or not, I'll be okay with it.

Still, it's nice to eat some warm pasta and think of the possibilities!

You can see that Morgan still needs to learn how to roll her fork into a spoon (as opposed to her hand) to keep all of the noodles neatly on the fork and into her mouth. She says (very seriously and logically) that she just wants to make sure she doesn't spill on anything. See, she wants to be clean!

Winter Wonderland!

This weekend we are getting a bunch of lake effect snow (Lake Michigan). It is really cold outside, but it also looks so beautiful! This is a day where it is so great to stay inside the house, get the wood burner going like mad so it's about 80 degrees inside, and just hang out with the family.

Taylor loses a tooth! I can't believe how old she is getting. I really thought she wouldn't lose a tooth until she was closer to 6, but it happened anyway. She wouldn't let anyone try to pull it out and it was hanging on by a thread at the end. It finally came out while she was at preschool and what an event that was.

I wondered what the latest tooth fairy protocol was, but went with just a quarter and a certificate. I found several forms online that you could order, but just printed out a copy of a free one. The next day Taylor kept telling people about how the fairy flew under her pillow and she couldn't even feel her at all. Actually, when I was exchanging the tooth for the notes and money, she sort of woke up and I was worried for a little bit. Apparently she didn't remember it though.
Morgan is also starting to look so grown up in the face. She was excited that she was finally big enough to wear the cowgirl boots that she had so admired when they were Taylor's, so we had a little photo shoot to celebrate. With all of Taylor's big events (losing a tooth, getting ears pierced, and just generally getting to do everything first), I know that Morgan sometimes gets jealous of the attention. I can see already some of those signs of being a middle child. I sure love how much she likes to cuddle though!
And then there is Jordan! She's cutting her first tooth (might be 2), sitting up, and generally moving around to wherever she wants to go. She's not crawling yet, but it won't be long.
She is still such a happy baby and smiles at just about everyone. It almost makes you look forward to grocery shopping because she makes so many people smile at the store. She is another reminder to me that being kind and smiling at strangers can often make a difference in someone's day, even though we won't really know how much of a difference.
What a great time in my life to be the mother of three little girls. I am truly blessed.
