Italy

Rome by night. We stopped by the Pantheon.
Then on to the Trevi fountain. We all threw a coin in over our heads (backwards) so we will come back again. :)
Close up--the owner of the house originally built this to distract from his daughter looking out the window. She was really beautiful but he hoped people would look at the fountain instead.

Matt is a "chaperone in training". He also went on the trip in 2006.
Entrance to Vatican City
Pope's gardens.
This was the first time we were able to see a bunch of sculptures in the Vatican Museum.

This ceiling is flat--just painted to look 3-D
These letters are 6 feet tall inside St. Peter's Basilica.
The Pieta by Michaelagelo. We weren't able to take pictures inside the Sistine Chapel.
The main altar inside St. Peter's.

The royal Swiss guard who work for Vatican City.
You could take pictures of this all day long. It is truly amazing.
Inside The Coliseum.
Group shot.

A smart car.
Makanna eating mini pringles.
Rachel, Tammy, and Kelly on the island of Capri.
A view of Capri. We were there for about 6 hours--many thought this was the highlight of the trip.
We had a 1 hour boat tour around the island that was really nice. We went through the kissing tunnel in the middle rock.

Sorrento--where we stayed one night.

Most of the roofs were gone, but this one at the bath house stayed intact because it was stone and round.

Pompei had running water even though the city was destroyed in 79 BC

Italian countryside
We watched the sunset from the deck of our overnight ferry to Greece.
Kelly and I had done the same thing 6 years ago. The sunset was still amazing!
We had this picture taken to match the one from our first Europe trip.
